Made of pieces: mosaic work

Mosaic art holds a special place in my heart. Although the demands of time, limited space, and a tight budget mean I rarely get to work in this medium, every opportunity to create mosaics feels like a gift. There’s something profoundly moving about taking tiny pieces, often fragments of what once was, and assembling them into something whole, harmonious, and entirely original. It’s a process that mirrors so much of what I believe about shaping identities—both personal and collective.

As humans, aren’t we all mosaics ourselves? We are crafted from the pieces of our lives: the fortunate moments, the broken ones, and everything in between. These fragments don’t make us any less beautiful; on the contrary, they create the rich, intricate patterns of who we are. Every thought, every experience—no matter how small or seemingly insignificant—adds depth to our unique design.

Through my mosaics, I celebrate this idea of wholeness made from parts
